Intuitive Interface
Famliarise yourself with the GymSymbol interface to get the most out of studying the shorthand used in judging Women's Artistic Gymnastics:
1. Language menu. Choose between English and Russian languages.
2. Apparatus buttons. Choose your apparatus.
3. Quiz button. Push to take a quiz.
4. Number of questions in quiz. Set the number of questions in your quiz. You may choose to take a quiz with up to 100 questions as long as there are as many or more skills shown in the main table (number 9).
5. Quiz menu. Choose the type of quiz.
6. Filter. Filter skills by Value, Number, Description, Alternate Description or Gymnast.
7. Filter limiter.
8. Filter field. In the example to the left, the skills on bars are filtered to show where Gymnast contains ")". This results in all skills named for a gymnast, since each recognised gymnast is noted by country - for example, "(RUS)". It is also easy to sort by group. For example "Number begins with 4.5" will show all the skills with an E value in group four of the current apparatus.
9. Main Table. Questions for quizzes are taken from the skills listed in the main table. Double-clicking a skill will remove it from the list. You may also sort the list based on Value, Number or Description.
10. Skill Details. The Value (DV), Number, Symbol, Diagram, FIG Description, Alternate Description and Athlete are are for the skill highlighted in the Main Table.
11. Less/More Button. This button shows or hides the Editing Panel.
12. Language Menu. Choose between English and Russian in the Editing Panel.
13. Save Button. Save changes made to the Description, Alternate Description or Gymnast for the chosen skill.
14. Clipboard Button. Pushing this button copies the details of the highlighted skill to your computer's clipboard. If the Editing Panel and Main Table show different languages, both will be copied as seen here.
15.-17. Edit fields for Description, Alternate Description and Gymnast. When visible, you can edit any of these fields to change or update the GymSymbol database. (Currently, these changes cannot be "UNDONE").
